Terms of Service
Current is a calm space for short, honest conversations. By using the app, you agree to participate with care and respect.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Current to:
- Harass, threaten, or deliberately harm others
- Target individuals or groups with abuse or intimidation
- Solicit or engage in transactions involving services, money, or exchanges
- Post content that is illegal, exploitative, or deceptive
- Share private or sensitive information you do not own or have permission to share
- Upload images containing illegal content, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or content that violates others' rights
We allow difficult, personal, and sensitive topics β including discussions about relationships, identity, and desire β but not behavior that exploits, targets, or extracts from others.
Content & Responsibility
You are responsible for the content you post, including text and images.
By posting content on Current, you confirm that:
- You own the content or have the right to share it
- The content does not violate any laws or third-party rights (copyright, trademark, privacy, etc.)
- You understand that posts are public and may be seen by other users
Current does not endorse user-generated content, and views expressed by users do not represent those of the service.
Posts, comments, and images may be removed if they violate these terms or if they pose a risk to the safety or integrity of the space.
Image Content Policies
Current allows users to upload images to posts and direct messages, subject to the following rules:
Prohibited in Posts (Public Content):
- Nudity, sexually explicit content, or sexual services
- Graphic violence, gore, or content that glorifies harm
- Hate symbols, extremist imagery, or content promoting violence against groups
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or content exploiting minors
- Content that violates others' privacy or intellectual property rights
Images uploaded to posts are automatically scanned. Images flagged as inappropriate are rejected and will not be published.
Prohibited in Messages (Private Content):
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or content exploiting minors
- Content that is illegal under applicable law
- Sharing of others' private images without consent (revenge porn, doxxing)
Images uploaded to messages are also scanned. Images flagged as NSFW (nudity, sexual content, violence) are automatically blurred for the recipient but are not rejected, respecting the private nature of direct messages. However, illegal content or content that violates these terms may still result in account suspension or termination.
Your Responsibilities:
- You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and share any images you post
- Uploading copyrighted images without permission may result in content removal or account suspension
- Repeatedly uploading prohibited content will result in account termination
Our Rights:
- We reserve the right to remove any image that violates these terms
- We may report illegal content (e.g., CSAM) to relevant authorities as required by law
Messaging
Current includes a contextual chat feature that allows two users to exchange messages privately within the context of a specific post.
Messages may include text and images.
By using this feature, you agree to:
- Use direct messages only for genuine conversation, not harassment or solicitation
- Respect the other user's decision to decline or not respond to a chat request
- Not use messaging to coordinate harm, share illegal content, or bypass moderation
- Not share images that violate the Image Content Policies above
Chat requests can be accepted or declined by the recipient. Either party may delete the thread at any time. Abusive use of chat may result in account suspension or termination.
Moderation
Moderation is intentionally limited and reactive.
Automated Moderation: All uploaded images are automatically scanned to detect inappropriate content. This is done to maintain a safe environment and comply with legal requirements.
Human Review: We review content primarily when it is reported or when required for safety or legal reasons. We may remove content or restrict accounts at our discretion, and we are not obligated to provide public explanations for moderation decisions.
Reporting: Users may report content that violates these terms. Reports are reviewed manually. Frivolous or abusive reporting may result in account restrictions.
Account & Access
We may suspend or terminate access to Current if these terms are violated or if continued use would harm the service or its users.
You may stop using Current at any time.
Account Termination
User-initiated deletion
You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app:
Settings β Delete Account
Deleting your account removes your profile, posts, comments, votes, uploaded images, and all associated data. This action is permanent and cannot be undone. You will be logged out immediately.
Platform-initiated termination
We may terminate or suspend your account if:
- You violate these Terms of Service or our content policies
- You repeatedly upload prohibited content
- Continued access would harm other users or the integrity of the service
- Required by applicable law or legal process
In cases of serious violations (e.g., harassment, illegal content, CSAM), termination may occur without prior notice and may be reported to authorities. For less severe violations, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you.
If your account is terminated by the platform, you may contact hello@usecurrent.app to appeal the decision. We review appeals on a case-by-case basis but are not obligated to reinstate access.
Intellectual Property
Current respects the intellectual property rights of others.
If you believe content on Current infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, please contact us at hello@usecurrent.app with:
